About SF Score

SF Score was created to answer a simple question: what science fiction is worth reading? With so many novels published each year, deciding which one to read next can be a challenge. Here, we use a "wisdom of the crowds" approach to display and rank novels by how well various groups like them.

The Hugo Award was created to allow fans to vote for their favorite books, while the Nebula Award is given by writers to other writers. Results in these and several other annual awards are combined to create a score. In addition to yearly awards, we also use several different lists of all-time best SF novels. This allows the scoring system to recognize great works that may not have been appreciated as much when they were written, or works that were written before the establishment of the yearly awards.

Of course, no scoring system can be free of controversy. If you have suggestions for improvement, please let us know!
